Heart Boat
Once I was a boat adrift in the vast sea,
Until I moored in the tenderness of your bay.
A seed in my heart grew into a lush banyan—
Roots deep in your soil,
Branches reaching for the sky.
Our joy, sorrow, pain, and sweetness,
Condensed into rain, wind, lightning, and twilight,
Piercing through layered clouds,
Turning with the seasons.
Until I moored in the tenderness of your bay.
A seed in my heart grew into a lush banyan—
Roots deep in your soil,
Branches reaching for the sky.
Our joy, sorrow, pain, and sweetness,
Condensed into rain, wind, lightning, and twilight,
Piercing through layered clouds,
Turning with the seasons.
Now the boat sways upon the water again,
Mending its long-forgotten sail.
Yet it has long since taken root,
Buried beneath the banyan’s shade.
Buried beneath the banyan’s shade.
