Crossing Paths

Yesterday, I took a break from my weekly chat group to get a disabled parking document from my husband's primary care doctor. In the parking lot, I noticed an elderly gentleman wandering slowly, seemingly lost. I walked past him but felt concerned, so I paused, turned back to ask, “Can I help you?”

"Oh, I'm waiting for my doctor's appointment and just looking around for a place to have lunch," he replied.

He looked familiar. Then I realized we had met last year at a coffee shop. As we talked, I learned he had blurry vision and needed ophthalmologic surgery to reattach or replace his lens. He used to ride an electric bike, but now he relies on walking and inconvenient public transportation.

I gave him my phone number and offered to take him to his eye surgery. I believe that people cross paths for a reason, especially at crucial moments. Throughout my life, many have guided and helped me. The best way I can honor that is by doing the same—uplifting and empowering others.
